For a
few weeks, myself and Winky had had a couple of days
planned Cat fishing for his Birthday. As well as us,
we were also to be joined by Wink's partners brother
Kim. Kim had been fishing with us once before
(here), and after catching a couple of Carp,
appeared to enjoy it. What he would make of a
potentially quiet catfish session however, was
anyone's guess!
On
arriving to the water we were to fish, it was soon
apparent that we had got there after a serious
catfish feeding spree. As usual, we were told in no
uncertain terms that the fishing had slowed down and
that we should have been there last week; great!
With Carp also present in the water, we could have
quite easily have targeted them instead, but because
we never get to fish for cats, we decided to go in
all or nothing.
Both
myself and Wink set our three rods up to fish one
livebait, one multiple string of 21mm pellets, and
one with popped up lobworms. Although everything we
tried didn't raise a single response! Apart from the
livebait we had been catching on float fished
maggots, nothing else in the lake appeared to be
feeding. Even our attempt to give Kim some sport
with Tench was foiled by the fact they weren't
really feeding.
Come
the last day, we were all pretty hacked off, but
even so, Kim had appeared to have enjoyed himself.
Luckily his patience was rewarded, and Kim managed
to land the biggest fish of the trip in the shape of
a 4lb Tench. After this we headed home, stopping on
the way for a Hungry Horse fry up, this
unfortuantely being the highlight of the whole trip! |
