I
decided that today was going to be spent Piking on
my Syndicate water with mate Mark Baker. I hadn't
seen Ma in a while and fancied the social as well as
the Piking. Ma had also yet to catch a Pike form the
water, so this needed to be sorted out. On arrival
the level of the water was well up from its Summer
levels and looked a totally different water. We both
decided to fish a nice deep bay at one end of the
Pit, and from here proceeded to cast ledgered deads
to some drop-offs surrounding the small fish shoals.
The
action turned out to be fast and furious and by
lunch time we had caught around six Pike each,
although none were of any size. All fish fell to a
mixture of deads, with Smelt being the number one fish
catcher. Hopefully we'll get back down there
again soon and catch some of the bigger fish that I
know must inhabit the place! |
