With the
promise of some other quality fishing coming up in
the following months, I knew I was going to be
leaving the Rudd alone very soon. So with this in
mind, I decided to make just the one more session,
this taking place after work. My game plan was
simple. After the last session proving that the
floating baits were not really a very productive
method, I opted for the float tactics again. On this
session however, I decided to try a different area,
ever hopeful of an even larger fish showing itself.
As
usual, first port of call was too tie back a few
rushes to create my swim, and then to feed a few
micro pellets and few grains of corn. The float rod
was then set up with a light float and a size 14
hook, this being baited with corn and fished just
touching the bottom. Nothing happened for the first
30 minutes, but then a few small 'Rudd' sized
bubbles started to appear. Knowing full well that my
next article for coarse fisherman was to be on Rudd,
I told Dad to get ready with the Camera, as a bite
was likely any second.
Right
on queue, the float slid away and I was connected to
a decent fish. After a spirited fight on the light
line, I was soon staring down at a lovely 2lb 8oz
Rudd, certainly not bad for a couple of hours after
work. |
