After
the introduction to Badger Drain, Wink and I
couldn't think of anything else and all the places
we had planned on fishing seriously were well and
truly forgotten. We had planned to concentrate on a
completely different area this time from where we
had fished yesterday. We knew we had a lot of water
to cover if we were to reach our target of getting
to a certain spot before chub fishing in the
afternoon. With what we had learnt the day before,
we decided to leap frog the rods every 10 minutes as
most of the runs the previous day had happened on
the drop.
It
turned out that the action was not to be as fast and
furious as before, but a the same time, we did
wonder whether the pace we were moving was narrowing
down our chances of a large Pike that could just be
holding up waiting to feed. We reached our Mark
earlier than expected with only a lost Jack and a
follow from a near double to show. We decided before
leaving to try the productive spot again just to see
if anything was actually feeding. After sitting in a
swim for about 30 minutes, about 20 minutes longer
than we gave anywhere else, Wink had a run. You can
probably guess what it was.... Yep another PB, this
time being in the shape of a 16lb 8oz croc! Talk
about from Zero to Hero! We then decided that we
would rest the place and stick to the Chub fishing
plan.
On
arrival to our Chub venue we were horrified to see a match angler fishing the swim we had primed the
evening before with halibut pellets! Gutted, but
that's the way it goes sometimes; they would wait!
